Frequently Asked Questions

Is therapy right for me?

Many of us experience challenges and difficulties at some stage in our lives - you are not alone, and you don’t have to struggle alone. Finding the right professional to talk to can feel daunting at first but we go at your own pace. I offer a safe non-judgemental space for you to talk openly, and sessions are specifically tailored to your unique set of needs.

How important is the relationship between a counsellor and a client?

The relationship between a counsellor and a client is one of the most important aspects of therapy. It’s important you feel understood and supported while at the same time develop a high level of trust with your counsellor to make progress and create opportunity for personal growth and lasting change.

What happens during and after our first conversation?

After you get in touch, I will contact you to schedule an initial 20-minute FREE telephone conversation. This is an opportunity for me to discuss the counselling process and what issues or struggles you are facing. You can also raise any concerns you have about undergoing counselling. If I feel I can provide the right support for you, we can arrange your first appointment which lasts 50-minutes and costs £65.00 per session.

Are our therapy sessions confidential and private?

As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work within their ethical framework. Confidentiality underpins everything you discuss with me during our sessions. There are only a few exceptions to this where I am obliged to break confidentiality: if you disclose involvement in or knowledge of any criminal activities or if there is a safeguarding issue if you or any adult related to you or your child could potentially be under threat of harm or abuse.

What should I expect from Online Counselling?

Online sessions are a very convenient way of undergoing counselling from the comfort of your own home. Find a quiet space where you will not be disturbed. I offer a warm, safe and non-judgmental space for you to talk openly and freely. We go at your own pace. Each week I send you a Teams link for you to access your online session. We normally arrange the same time and day weekly as this guarantees my availability.

How do I pay for my sessions?

I email you a payment link each week in advance of your session. All you need to do is click on the link to make the payment.

What happens if I cannot attend our pre-booked session?

If you find that you are unable to attend a session, please confirm as soon as possible. I require 48-hours’ notice otherwise you are charged for your session in full.
